Transforming our Business Experience
May 14, 2020
With enforced work-from-home and; the need to connect and collaborate in work and in life, the world now faces a swift demand to go digital. The shift can be intimidating, but trust me, it’s easier than you think, and you may have a little fun in the process.
To help jump start your move from “bricks and mortar” to “digital” collaboration, here are video communication tips to improve your business experience:
#1 Equipment Check
You probably haven’t seen your home router since 2004, so time to upgrade to the latest model. Bandwidth and security are essential, so check with your internet provider for a good recommendation.
#2 Direct Connectivity
Plugging your computer into your router will not only help with faster connectivity, it enhances security protection.
#3 Teams vs. Zoom
Zoom is “in” but, if you have a choice, Microsoft Teams. As a Microsoft Business tool, it has excellent features, including backdrops that transform that spare bedroom with unicorn wallpaper into an intergalactic spaceship AND, it’s highly secure.
#4 Check your settings
Before take-off, conduct a multi-point inspection. Speakers working? Microphone unmuted? Dog got a bone? You’ll avoid accidental personal malfunctions and your IT person will sleep easier.
#5 Get ready for your closeup.
Lights. Camera. Action. Is that just your neck we’re staring at? Lighting good, or do you resemble an FBI informant? Every day’s a bad hair day now, so let’s make the best of it.
